خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ

Muhammad Habib Shakir: Abasing (one party), exalting (the other),

Abdullah Yusuf Ali: (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;

M.Pickthall: Abasing (some), exalting (others);

Amatul Rahmân Omer: (This event shall be) lowering (the status of some and) exalting (that of others).

Maulana Mohammad Ali: There is no belying its coming to pass --
