Muhammad Habib Shakir: He it is Who shows you the lightning causing fear and hope and (Who) brings up the heavy cloud.
Abdullah Yusuf Ali: It is He Who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: It is He Who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilising) rain!
M.Pickthall: He it is Who showeth you the lightning, a fear and a hope, and raiseth the heavy clouds.
Amatul Rahmân Omer: He it is, Who shows you the lightning to induce fear and to inspire hope (in you); and (it is He) Who raises the heavy clouds.
Maulana Mohammad Ali: For him are (angels) guarding the consequences (of his deeds), before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah’s command. Surely Allah changes not the condition of a people, until they change their own condition. And when Allah intends evil to a people, there is no averting it, and besides Him they have no protector.
