Muhammad Habib Shakir: Those to whom the people said: Surely men have gathered against you, therefore fear them, but this increased their faith, and they said: Allah is sufficient for us and most excellent is the Protector.
Abdullah Yusuf Ali: Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."
M.Pickthall: Those unto whom men said: Lo! the people have gathered against you, therefor fear them. (The threat of danger) but increased the faith of them and they cried: Allah is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust!
Amatul Rahmân Omer: Those to whom (at the time of the expedition of Badr al-Sughrâ) people said, `People have assembled against you, so fear them.´ But this (threat of danger) increased their faith and they said, `Allâh is Sufficient for us, and He is an excellent Disposer of affairs´.
Maulana Mohammad Ali: Those who responded to the call of Allah and the Messenger after the misfortune had befallen them -- for such among them who do good and keep their duty is a great reward.
